Changes in the Cub Scout Program for Scoutmasters and Scouts BSA Troop Leaders
This page will be updated as more and better information comes in. Last updated May 22, 2024The New Cub Scout Program starts on June 1, 2024
Scoutmasters: Here are some changes coming to the AOL program starting June 1.
Webelos 1 and Webelos 2 are gone!
Webelos is a fourth-grade program only, beginning the day they leave the third grade.
AOL and AOL Scouts is a fifth-grade-only program and begins the day they leave the fourth grade.
What does that mean for Scouts BSA Troops?
You must plan for visits from AOL dens in August and September 2024. Their first requirement, which they can start as early as June 1, requires them to visit a troop. You should expect and invite them early in the Fall, anytime really, but probably in the August and September time-frame instead of the current late Fall-early Winter time frame.
The AOL program is designed to be completed in the January-February time frame, so you must plan to be welcoming crossovers in January and February 2025.
